Gospel of Mark: 21. Resilient Compassion (6:30–44)

About This Message

What happens when caring for people starts wearing you down?

In this teaching from Mark 6:30–44, we explore the very real experience of compassion fatigue — emotional, mental, and spiritual exhaustion from constantly carrying the needs of others — and how Jesus offers a better way: compassion resilience.

As the disciples return exhausted from ministry, Jesus invites them into rhythms of rest, private devotion, and dependence on him. Yet in the middle of their exhaustion, Jesus also teaches them how to remain compassionate without becoming depleted. Through the feeding of the 5,000, we discover that compassion resilient disciples learn to let Jesus define both their ministry and their limits, withdraw with Jesus to return with compassion, and trust him to multiply what little they have.

If you’ve been feeling tired, overextended, emotionally drained, or spiritually dry, this message offers practical and biblical wisdom for following Jesus faithfully over the long haul.
