****************************************************** Teaching Topic: Surrender (Facilitated by Joy Mulumba) ****************************************************** Luke 9:23–24 (NIV) Then he [Jesus] said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” Joy Mulumba is a community-centered leader, educator, and advocate with new roots in the Black and African diaspora in the Portland Metro area. He is the co-founder and director of a nonprofit organization, African Family Holistic Health Organization(AFHHO) dedicated to advancing maternal and family health, intergenerational well-being, and culturally grounded healing practices. With a background in medical health, English literature and community organizing, Mulumba brings a culturally responsive, equity-driven lens to systems change and community voice. His work centers Black Refugees and Immigrant families historically excluded from health planning and policy." Joy will be sharing a powerful message titled “Surrendering Your Way into Dominion.” Drawing from his own life story, he will explore how grief, suffering, and pain are not obstacles to faith but part of the daily cross Jesus calls us to carry. True strength and victory come not through striving, but through surrender—laying down our ways so that Christ’s resurrected life can be lived through us by the Holy Spirit. In this talk, Joy will remind us that obedience is better than sacrifice and invite us to consider what it looks like to walk in real spiritual dominion by yielding fully to God. Bring a friend—life is better together! ********* Schedule: ********* 7:30a Cooks arrive to fry up that bacon and scramble those eggs! 8:30a Doors open with coffee served. 9:00a Breakfast begins 9:30a Teaching 10:30a Prayer 11:00a Wrap-Up

There’s something profound that takes place when we get around the table - in proximity to others - and share a meal. Jesus framed his last moments with his disciples before going to the cross at the table (Matthew 26:17-30.) Today, we call that potluck! For families of 3+ please bring a main dish (casserole, chicken, spaghetti, etc.) For families under 3 please bring a side (ie. salad, fruit/veggie tray, dessert, etc.)
